Happy Halloween and Wahoo-Wah!

Kate has had a very busy weekend! Not only did she celebrate her first Halloween,
she also went to her very first Virginia tailgate! We had a great time visiting with friends on the Lawn at UVa for Halloween, and then there were babies galore at the tailgate. Below are some pictures from the festivities.

A pre-Halloween celebration lunch with Gigi at Orzo. Yum!

Todd and Robby with their babies!

Turner is too cute for words!

Ready to tailgate. Go Hoos!

Check out all the babies at this tailgate. Kate was surrounded by five handsome little fellows! :)

So happy to be in her dad's arms! Check out that grin!

Kate slept almost the entire tailgate!

Never fear Tar Heel fans--even though Kate's first tailgate was at Virginia, she still knows which shoe goes on the right foot! :)

All Smiles!

Kate has been smiling a lot lately. It is so much fun to see her responding to us, and we love to see her little personality developing. I have been taking HUNDREDS of pictures of her, trying to get her smile on camera. So far, I have only been able to capture it from the side (see above).

I am including several other pictures from the last week below:

Everyday Kate and I walk with our best friends, Katherine and Turner McNerney. Check out Turner's cool new stroller! Turner and Kate don't know that they are best friends yet...but they will soon enough! :)

Yesterday, Kate met Dorie, Meghan and Greg Streit's baby girl. We know these girls are going to have so much fun together!

Kate likes to hang out in her bouncer! Thanks, Cousin Adelyn, for loaning us such a cool toy!

Uncle Kenny and Aunt Betty came to visit us yesterday. They live in Florida, so it was a real treat to see them!!

6 Weeks Old

It is hard to believe that Kate is six weeks old today. The last two weeks have been very busy! Kate went to Church for the first time to see her cousin, Adelyn's, Baptism. She also went to her first party, Supper Club at Karen and Mike Ball's house. I absolutely love dressing her up for any occasion. Robby gives me a hard time, but all of her little clothes are so cute. I would dress her 10 times a day, if she would tolerate it (getting dressed is not really her favorite thing!). She grunts the entire time I am dressing her (see the video in the last post for the full grunting effect! :))

Kate had her 1 month appointment last week with her pediatrician. She was 11 pounds 1 ounce and 22 inches long. She is growing up so quickly--I can hardly believe it!

Kate and I have also been going to Stroller Fit, a fun class with moms and babies at our gym. Everyone who knows me, knows that I don't really like to exercise. However, I love the chance to socialize with other moms, so I am enjoying this class ! :)

This week Granddaddy Leggett also came to visit us from Cary, NC. We had so much fun during his visit. Kate loves all of her grandparents!

Below are several photos from the last two weeks:

Kate is all ready to go to Church (thanks for the adorable outfit, Kate and Grant!)

Our Little Noisemaker

So...I would like to know who coined the phrase "sleep like a baby" and intended it to mean they slept soundly? As you can see from this video, Kate is constantly making grunting noises. Try sleeping through that. You can hear that there is a sound machine on in the background and it does not even begin to cover her noises.

Kate was born on the 9th of September, so now that it is October 11, she is one month and two days old. Even after a month, all Claire and I want to do is hold her, watch her, or play with her. She is starting to stare at people and on her one month birthday, she smiled at Claire for the first time. I came home that day and tried for hours to get her to smile at me and...nothing. The next day, Cynthia Lorenzoni brought over dinner, and she got a smile in only a couple of minutes of trying. Claire got two more smiles Saturday afternoon. Finally, Saturday night, I got a smile. All we have done all weekend is try to get her to smile at us...she probably thinks we are nuts (which is not far from the truth!!!).

Today, we went to Adelyn (My sister's baby) and Little Rob's (Steven's brother's baby) baptism. As you can imagine, the first time at church was crazy with people wanting to see Kate and hold her. With the Swine Flu going around UVA and all of the typical fall colds circulating as well, I thought Claire was going to have a heart attack every time someone touched or even looked at Kate. But, who can blame her for wanting to be protective!

Sorry for the delay in posting. Last week, Belle came running in to see my mom and knocked over a glass of water onto our laptop. We tried to dry it off, but unfortunately the computer was gone. Now, we are the proud owners of a brand new laptop, that we were not planning on buying! I have posted a few photos from the past week to catch you up on life with Kate.
