Big Sister Kate and Look Alikes!

Robby and I are so proud of Kate. She is taking her role as a new big sister very seriously, and she is willing to do almost anything for baby Caroline--including share her Mama and Dada (which is not an easy thing to do when you are two and a half years old!).

Kate loves to point out that, "sister is tiny, and Kate is yittle." Kate is against the whole idea of being a "big girl." I can't say I really blame her--after all you are only "yittle" once! :)

Kate sings Caroline lots of songs, and wants us to drop everything and soothe baby sister if she starts to cry (even if we were playing with Kate at the time!). Kate also makes sure that Caroline only wears Cookie Monster diapers, because those are obviously far superior to the diapers with Big Bird and Elmo on them. We have to save those diapers for when Kate is sleeping!;)

We love our little helper, and we are so proud of how well she is loving her baby sister.

Oh, and in addition to sharing her Mama and Dada...Kate has also shared her good looks with her baby sister. I am not sure how I am going to tell their baby pictures apart!!

Caroline planned a "big sister party" for Kate...complete with plastic animals, of course!;)

Gigi and Lisee helped us celebrate Caroline coming home from the hospital and enjoyed Kate's big sister party!

A kiss for Caroline!

She is also willing to keep Caroline company on her play mat...I think Caroline was actually sleeping in this picture, but Kate was enjoying it!

And now for our little look a likes...

Thank you, Kate, for loving your baby sister so well!

Caroline Grace Wood

We welcomed Caroline Grace Wood into the world at 8:05am on February 22. She was 8 pounds 10 ounces and 21 inches long. We feel so incredibly blessed to be her parents, and we can't believe how much we love her already.

Here are a few of the millions of pictures we have taken in the last few days:

On our way to the c-section....last pregnancy picture!

Kate's First Basketball Game

Recently, we took Kate to her first basketball game (thank you, Lisee and Poppy for the tickets!). Kate had a blast!

However, she was a little confused about who was playing...anytime Virginia scored or the crowd cheered, she screamed, "Go Tar Heels."

You see, while Robby is hard at work, I am busy filling her head with all things Carolina!;) You should hear that child sing the Carolina Fight song....hilarious! She bursts into song for her Tar Heels several times a day. And for the record, Kate "no likes Duke" either!:)

At one point during the game, Kate looked up at Robby and said, "Dada, I like this movie." Not so sure about the "movie" part, but it looks like we will be back for more!!

Relaxing at the game! Go Tar Heels...oh yeah, and Hoos too!:)

First Haircut!

Last week, we took Kate for her very first haircut. All day Kate and I talked about how "exciting" it would be to get a haircut and how she might even get a very special treat if she behaved.

All day she replied, " I no want a haircut." She was adamant ...I think on the ride over to get her haircut, she repeated that sentence about a thousand times. This was sounding like the recipe for an absolute disaster....sharp scissors and a wayward toddler....NOT GOOD!

However, I didn't take into account how fun it would be to spin in "the special hair cutting chair." She hopped right up in the chair and after a few good spins and two M &Ms, she was ready for her haircut. And while she wasn't too sure when it came time to actually getting her haircut, she didn't move a muscle while it was being cut! So proud of Little Miss Kate!

A little unsure...but still as she could be!

Her plastic animals came along for the adventure...Studio RB never looked so good!;)

Success!

Down on the (plastic) Farm...

Kate has a new "love"....little plastic animals of every size, species, color and breed. She literally plays with them for hours on end and carries at least one or two of them everywhere we go (which means we are frantically looking for them/keeping up with them everywhere we go!). She cares for them like they are her babies, and she refers to them as her "friends."

And while it is very cute that she loves them so much, you do not want to walk in our house with bare feet anymore. My slippers are now my "friends," since you never know where and on which carpet Kate's "friends" will be hiding.

"I am just playing with all of my animals," is probably her most frequently used sentence. And she is not exaggerating!!

When I walked into our bedroom yesterday, I found this on our window ledge:

And her favorite outdoor buddy, is her beloved bird from her Nana.

Please note: this bird does not spend very much time outdoors. He prefers the good life indoors with his "friend" Kate.

Christmas Day Celebration

On Christmas morning, we woke up and had a little family time with just the three of us, and then we went over and spent the day with Robby's family (minus Rudy and Veronica who were Bolivia. We missed y'all!!).

Kate loved every minute, and I can't imagine anything more fun than holidays with little ones. The excitement over every thing big and small is contagious, and I hope we always remember the wonder in her eyes during this Christmas season.

Forgive me for not having more family pictures...the paparazzi was not at her best!

Santa brought Kate a toddler roller coaster...she was thrilled!!

Looking on at her stocking

Let's see here...

The verdict...I think she liked it!;)

Kate could not wait to go over to Lisee and Poppy's house to see her cousin, Addie (and the rest of the family too, of course!)!

The girls opening presents together.

Hanging out with Uncle Skip and Aunt Ashley!

Dada's girl!

Christmas dinner with the McNerney family. What could be better than an evening with her cousins? Having her buddies, Turner and Colin, there too, of course! :)

As Kate likes to sing, "We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happyfull Year."
